I’m Not Where I Want to Be Yet, But I’m Not Where I Used to Be

It’s very easy to focus on what is missing in your life.

The goals you haven’t achieved yet.
The level you haven’t reached.
The version of yourself you’re still trying to become.

I find myself thinking about these things a lot.

Thinking about where I want to be.
What I want to achieve.
How far I still feel from that version of my life.

And sometimes, it can feel overwhelming.

Like no matter what I do, it’s not enough yet.

But recently, I’ve been trying to shift my perspective a little.

Instead of only focusing on how far I still have to go, I started thinking about how far I’ve already come.

And the truth is, I’m not where I used to be.

There was a time when I was more unsure than I am now.
A time when I hadn’t started anything yet.
A time when I was still overthinking instead of taking action.

But now?

I’ve started.

I’m learning new things.
I’m putting myself out there.
I’m showing up, even when I don’t feel completely ready.

And that counts for something.

Even if it doesn’t feel like a big achievement.

Even if it’s not visible to everyone else.

Growth doesn’t always come with big announcements or obvious results.

Sometimes, it shows up quietly.

In the way you think differently.
In the way you handle situations better.
In the way you keep going, even when things feel uncertain.

That’s the kind of growth I’m experiencing right now.

It’s not perfect.
It’s not complete.

But it’s real.

And I think it’s important to acknowledge that.

Because if you only focus on where you’re going, you might never appreciate how far you’ve come.

And that can make your journey feel more frustrating than it actually is.

So yes, I’m not where I want to be yet.

But I’m also not where I used to be.

And for now, that’s something I’m choosing to recognize.
